Vampire Dust
Product code:
£7.50
Description
Vampire Dust is a colourful, inventive and dramatic work, exploring a wealth of colours and timbres, primarily in the lower register of the double bass. Each movement features musical and technical challenges in equal measure, creating atmospheric and evocative mini tone-poems of great breadth and character.
“In this piece, my first double bass trio, the two movements’ colour worlds are:
Movement 1 – The mentioning of Ravel in the title of the first movement indicates a mixture of two ” French” ideas– a variation on the lovely English Horn solo melody from Ravel’s Piano Concerto and a pointed recurrence of harmonies involving the French Augmented 6th chord.
Movement 2 takes two of my so oft-used impression inspirations, drinks and all things funereal (this time a vampire’s casket) and weaves moody and brooding music about before an incredibly dramatic chorale-like section builds the piece to a loud and shattering Eb minor conclusion.” [P. Kellach Waddle]
