Simón García writes: “Swing K-1000 is an Up-Swing work dedicated to my friend Andrés Martín. The title is a word game about a famous French car, the Simca 1000, which was an icon in the 1960´s. The music is inspired by these years and I tried to write in the way of the great Big Bands like Duke Ellington´s band. There are solo sections and I included a tutti section imitating the Saxophone Soli language. It´s a fresh and powerful piece which gives off all the energy of a Big Band.”

Swing K-1000 was premiered in October 2009 at Suntory Hall in Japan by The Bass Gang.
