Description
Composed as an entry in the Dallas Wind Symphony’s “fanfare competition” Its title is derived from the nickname of Rhode Island, the summer residence of the composer. While the work is scored for the traditional brass choir (with added timpani), it can be performed with added players to each of the brass parts, such as the brass section of a Symphonic Band. While the work is basically tonal, it exhibits a “contemporary feel” through the use of a mix of tertial and quartal harmonies and the interjection of occasional measures of changed meters. (2006)
