Description

Lucca’s March is a fun and lively work which is playable by bass quartet or with larger forces. It was composed for Bass2018 in Lucca (Italy) but, due to various circumstances, was not performed, receiving its premiere on Saturday 22 September 2018 by the massed basses of the Wells Double Bass Weekend (Wells, Somerset), directed by David Heyes.

Lucca’s March is light-hearted and full of rhythmic momentum, ideal as the first or final work in a concert, and is suitable for bassists of different ability levels. The theme is catchy and singable, with supportive accompaniments, and the piece brims with life and good humour.
